Interactive Design of Adaptive Courses

چکیده
The ability of educational applications to adapt to individual students has been a sought-after feature for more than a decade. The difficulty of developing this kind of software and the lack of adequate tools that facilitate this endeavor have hindered the participation of instructors and teachers in the elaboration of adaptive applications. In this paper we describe an authoring tool, ATLAS, that aims at combining expressive power and ease of use in the design of adaptive web courses. ATLAS allows the fully interactive construction of courses that adapt automatically to the student’s characteristics and her/his behavior while taking the course. The designer interacts with the tool by using an intuitive visual language based on the direct manipulation of elements involved in the course. The tool takes care of the transition between a teacher’s understanding of the course and the representation model of the underlying

A Suggested Generic Intelligent Tutoring Framework
This paper presents an intelligent tutoring framework that can be effectively utilized to assist teaching courses and therefore to achieve pedagogical goals. The courses generated using the framework are adaptive, i.e., they adjust their behavior to overcome the individual differences among students. The architecture of the framework provides three modules for an administrator, an instructor an...
متن کاملDeveloping Adaptive Internet Based Courses with the Authoring System NetCoach
Developing adaptive internet based learning courses usually requires a lot of programming efforts to provide session management, keeping track of the learners current state, and adapting the interface layout to specific requirements. NetCoach is designed to enable authors to develop adaptive learning courses without programming knowledge. In this paper, we describe the adaptive, the adaptable, ...
متن کاملDeveloping Active Learning Experiences for Adaptive Personalised eLearning
Developing adaptive, rich-media, eLearning courses tends to be a complex, highly-expensive and time-consuming task. A typical adaptive eLearning course will involve a multi-skilled development team of technologists, instructional developers, subject matter experts and integrators. Even where the adaptive course attempts to reuse existing digital resources, considerable effort is still required ...

This paper describes the development and use of several interactive 3-D models for use in Fluid Power, Fluid Mechanics, and Machine Design courses. Instruction in these subjects often involves interpreting static 2D representations of complex mechanisms and fl...
متن کاملVIDET: a Visual Authoring Tool for Adaptive Websites Tailored to Non-Programmer Teachers
So far educational adaptive technologies have proven their effectiveness only in small-scale lab courses, thus they still wait for being released to the large community of educators. Among the reasons, there is the difficult task of designing and authoring an interactive adaptive course, especially for non-technical group of educators. In this paper we present VIDET, a visual authoring tool for...
